About Echoes of Change

In the ever-shifting landscape of the Fens in eastern England, Echoes of Change is a multimedia project that records stories of lives shaped by water and land. It highlights both the risks and opportunities in a uniquely vulnerable ecosystem, and invites dialogue on what it means to live with change.

The project brings together artworks and creative responses that explore the region’s deep connection with water, and how climate change — and the ways people respond to it — are woven into its story.

Echoes of Change is led by artist Fraser McGruer, working in collaboration with individuals, community groups, and partner organisations to create new works of art rooted in the changing Fens.

The work falls into two strands:

  • Echoes from the Past – drawing on history, memory, and tradition.

  • Echoes from the Future – imagining what is yet to come.

The project will culminate in a major multimedia exhibition, bringing together all of these elements into an immersive installation.
